Trade Rules and Guidelines
Welcome and hello!
Please remember that we are a pre eighteen forties early American rendezvous. All items placed out for sale should enhance our portrayal of that time. Both for the public and for ourselves. We have incredible crafters and tradesmen with years of knowledge and experience. We also have families and new folks who are just learning and want to be included. As traders I feel it is our duty and obligation to place the best face we may out there for all. The camp comes to us for their needs ranging from consumables, such as soap and candles, to crafting supplies and finished products. The public comes to learn and see what we are all about. In both cases we need to lead by example and remember why we engage in trading.
Take a good look at the items you wish to sell. Are they made of materials appropriate to the timeline? ( hint: plastic is not! ) Is the item something you would use in the period or camp? Is it an item you have been asked for before? Can you use it to enhance the teaching or display of the rendezvous? I do not wish to provide a " do and do not" list of items. I simply as you to take a good look at the item and ask if it is better suited to a garage sale or flea market. If so, sell the item there and not here.
There is a market for the gently used and cheaper items the camp needs such as footwear for the kids. However if it is something you bought at a store ,that is not quite right but close, please keep it covered and let the camp know you have such items but they have no place being out on display in public. Same goes for items that while modern in nature, are of an appropriate subject. Items like books,cd's,movies....all great info but not needed as part of the show display.
Trade blankets are a great and wonderful tradition for folks to sell items they may no longer need or want. Or for the small crafter to sell their handmade items. The same rules and guidelines apply.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or anyone on the trade committee.
Thank you
Pineapple.
